Adolescence is a period of rapid brain development, shaped not only by biology but by relationships, environment, and lived experience. This session explores how changes in the adolescent brain influence decision-making, emotions, risk-taking, and sensitivity to respect, autonomy, and power dynamics with adults. Participants will examine how trusted adult relationships can support healthy development, promote resilience, and create conditions where young people feel valued, capable, and understood.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain how adolescent brain development affects behavior, emotions, and relationships with adults.
- Identify ways adults can support healthy adolescent development through respectful relationships.
